During this day you will be able to experience the output of the Gather Motivation Lab and the Gather Playground Exhibition as well as enjoy our Beer and Food park together with some of the best beer brands in Stockholm. The music and art is presented by Upfront. Later on, YAY Festival joins us and presents both both talks and live music. The event is free of charge.

GATHER MOTIVATION LAB PITCH DAY

During the Pitch day  the contenders will pitch there ideas to investors, experts and partners.  We will alos select the Gather idea of the year.

The Motivation lab is where your idea become innovations. The objective is to help you take the first hard steps to making your idea reality. The idea can be anything from a social initiative, the start of a movement or a brilliant business idea. This could mean getting help with prototyping, breaking down an action plan, launching a crowdfunding campaign or pitching your idea to venture capital partners. Together with our Motivation Lab partners Adobe, EQT Ventures and FundedByMe we will give you the chance to take part in a 6 step innovation journey that ends with in the Gather Festival.

All selected participants will be rewarded Gather Tickets , a masterclass in presentation technique and prototyping hosted by Adobe,+ free access to Adobe XD, feedback on their pitch from venture capital firm EQT Ventures, assistance in creating a crowdfunding campaign from FundedByMe and expert advice from our fellow Gatherers.

PLAYGROUND EXHIBITION – Design thinking meets art

Gather Playground is a unique challenge and experience giving students the opportunity to develop ideas of future community development.

During Gather Festival, students from several schools based in Stockholm, will work in a mixed teams with different mindsets, knowledge and backgrounds. The Playground project will grow into an exhibition open to festival visitors, where each team presents its finished ideas by staging these in their own exhibition room.

The project builds on Gather's five themes: Urban Development, Economy, Human vs Machine, Democracy and Communication (read more here). Ideas can encompass everything from a social initiative, the beginning of a movement or integration solutions - to the design and structure of a city of the future.

This year’s edition of Gather Playground consists of students from Berghs School of Communication, Hyper Island, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm School of Economics, Stockholm Film School, Medieinstitutet, Stockholm University, Xenter Botkyrka and Idun Lovén Art School.

Upfront Producer Network
Music

Upfront Producer Network is an initiative for women- and non-binary music producers in Sweden. Since the start in 2015, Upfront have hosted listening-sessions, showcases, camps and an annual “Meet-Up” which is held together with Popkollo. Upfront’s objective is to emphasise and pitch these producers to the music industry, as well as creating safe- and nonnormative spaces to gather and evolve.

Julia Rio
Art

Julia Riordan is an artist based in Stockholm, Sweden, who discovered her passion for crochet and knitting at the age of 10. 

2012 Julia Rio launched her own knitwear label, specializing in unique, colorful beanies. Each piece is designed and knitted on a domestic-brother machine, comprised of a bed of 200 needles, hand-driven and environmentally friendly. Each beanie is finished off the machine by being hand sewn together and labeled.

Julia has always been a big admirer of street-art, and after completing her first yarnbomb in the streets of London 2013 , her creativity seeked out more of this type of expression. Now she covers public spaces with yarn, paint and patterns.

Veronica Grech

Verónica Grech is an illustrator and graphic artist currently living and working in the northwest coast of Spain. She enjoys creating characters, colourful landscapes and fun urban scenes. She always like doing sketches with traditional media for the projects and explore the beauty of work with colored pens and watercolors. She experiments with shapes, space and vivid color palettes to create graphically compositions. The result is a clean and fresh vector-style work, that offers a colorful and simple personal view of Reality.

Hanged Man

The Hanged Man arose in the calm after the storm, in a time of stillness when the world suddenly had turned upside down and eyes began to look inward. The inspiration comes from dark places like forests, skies and seas - even the own head where the interior is as a lake. The places are not necessarily scary, rather secure. It is in those places the soul gets room to shout out its need for affirmation. Places where darkness becomes a light.

The debut single 'First Time Dreaming' was released in September 2014 on PNKSLM Recordings to rave reviews in both Sweden and abroadand the debut mini-album 'First Quarter Moon' from 2014 and later EP "Lord Have Mercy" on cassette 2016 were released via Kning Disk/Telegram Studios.

Our lecture destroys the myths about being “creative” as well as giving you our perfectly honest story about taking risks, fucking up and reaching success. We get booked to talk about creative entrepreneurship at the world’s biggest conferences in Europe, Africa, Asia and America. So if you can cough up the cash we’ll come and make your school, conference or company go wild for a night and be inspired for months (we take no responsibility if someone quits their job straight after our lecture). We also bring our band (often consisting of a bunny, a bishop and a king).

Neighborhoods' gentrification with consumer-minded malls in every corner, sad love, mental landscape in change, dialogues in dreamlike states, light and shadow, the city and the human front and backside and inside. The debut album "Stockholm Tillstidare" was produced by Johannes Berglund and released on April 1, 2015. Participants include Martin Hederos (Tonbruket, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, Hederos & Hellberg), Bebben Stenborg (Shout Out Louds) and Sarah Snavely Day, A Nighthawk).
